Kenora District is a district and census division in Northwestern Ontario in the Canadian province of Ontario. It was created within 1907 from either area of Rainy River District. These are, geographically, a big section therein province; at 407,167 km² it takes up over one-third of the province's area; it is larger than California, and just larger than Paraguay. A zone seat is Kenora.

A climate is very harsh because of the influence of the cold waters of Hudson and James bays: most of the region is taiga characterised by discontinuous permafrost, but on the extreme northern coast there are - remarkably for the latitude of exclusively 54°North - patches of admittedly arctic tundra and continuous permafrost. This is the southmost point reached per circumpolar line of continuous permafrost in any continent.

Virtually all of the people of the dominion is concentrated in the extreme south in which a select few agriculture is possible: a independent crop is barley. Northward, mining is extremely extensive: northern Kenora territorial dominion contains a big & greatest-grade reserves of uranium in the world, too when existence the world's major producer of nickel. Traditional native activities such as hunting & camping dominate a northern half of the territorial dominion outside of the couple of minings settlements. Roads can exclusively email astir midway to the northmost point of Kenora territory, thus that air & (inside summer) river transportation is a lone means of reaching the virtually all remote a share of the dominion. A major railroad between Toronto and British Columbia passes through the south of the district.
